Finished Batman Quilt

Yeah! I finally got my son's Batman quilt finished. I am so happy with how it turned out. To see how much he loves it is so incredible knowing the love I put into it and seeing him wrapped in it with a huge smile on his face is priceless.

Here is the finished Front Panel:

Personalized Water Bottles

So sorry for another delay in posting. I have been creating vinyl designs for water bottles. I love personalizing items and with my Cricut Expression (if you don’t know what this is then please watch for future posts as I will be sharing my knowledge of this incredible cutter soon).

I love the teachers at my boy’s school and came up with the idea to cut vinyl for them to personalize their water bottles and coffee cups. I also personalized the water bottles that my family has. I have found an incredible lady in Eckville, AB who sells vinyl for incredible prices so getting creative is very affordable. I will be adding a link to her website soon but if you would like to check it out go to http://www.itsavinylthing.blogspot.com/

Here are some photos of the water bottle designs I did for my family.

Here are some of the layered vinyl designs I did for other bottles.

I found this spray which I use to coat the layered vinyl pieces so the small parts don’t peel off and so kids can’t pick at them.

As I said before, I will post much more about the Cricut Expression soon so you too can learn about this incredible machine and all the wonderful creations you can make with it.

Have a great time crafting,
Nicole

Batman Quilt

Sorry it has been a while since I last posted. Life has been busy with the kids and I have been getting a few projects finished up. Here is what I am working on right now.

My son, Braeden, loves Batman so I am making him a quilt right now. I found this quilt pattern in the Fall 2010 issue of Fons&Porter's Love of Quilting Easy Quilts Magazine.
I now work on altering the pattern for what I want.

When altering a pattern I usually take a photo of each of the fabric I am going to use and play it with in Photoshop using the basis of the original design until I am happy with it. It is a bit time consuming, but it is what works for me.
I did not do this for this quilt as I was on a retreat when I started it and didn’t have my camera with me and just really wanted to get going on it. So from the original pattern I made these changes:
1. Red Solid = Yellow with Bats
2. Black Solid = Black Solid
3. Gold Solid = Yellow Solid
4. Navy Solid = Black with Stars
5. Green Solid = Yellow Solid
6. Purple Solid = Black with Stars
7. A & B Rectangles = Blue Minky
8. C & D Rectangles = Batman
9. E & F Rectangles = Blue Minky
10. Outside Borders = Batman
11. Binding = Batman

I also usually retype all the instructions and fix them to be what I am making, but I also didn’t do that this time. Guess I am getting lazy or a bit more confident in myself. I haven’t decided how I am going to final quilt this one; I am leaning towards drawing out some large bats since on my other son’s Spiderman Quilt I sewed a spider web for the final quilting. I will post more again soon as I get this quilt finished in the next couple days.

Here is how his quilt is coming together:

It is very cold here and snowing today so I will spend the day working on his quilt and maybe he can cuddle up with it afterschool!

Happy Crafting!!!

Quilting Day

Yesterday was Family Day here in Alberta so I took advantage of spending the day with my family. The weather even improved so we could spend some time outside! Hope you all enjoyed some family time as well.

Today I thought I would share a quilt I made for my sister for Christmas. A very dear friend of mine got me interested into attempting quilting so I made my son a Spiderman Quilt and found it quite easy and, of course, addicting. Here is my first quilt:
and here is is on his bed:

So, back on topic. I was trying to decide what type of quilt to make my sister and came upon this image on the internet:
I fell in love with it and decided I would attempt it. It was a fussy pattern to make so much of, but I was so happy with the result and she loves it.

I found the dresden plate template on-line, printed it and went from there. I am currently working on my other son's blanket which is Batman and I will post about it soon.

Here We Go....

I have been thinking of starting a blog for a while now and am finally getting to it.

I love checking out other blogs on the internet getting inspiration for projects and my goal for this site is to share my crafts and inspire others.

As you will see I have my hand in many different types of crafts; scrapbooking, card making, quilting, t-shirt design, vinyl design and more. I definitely have an addiction and am very blessed to have a family and a great number of friends who support me with this addiction instead of sending me off to rehab for help. hahaha

Enjoy my posts and please leave a comment if you wish!

PS: This is all new to me so the design of the site will be changing as I learn new techniques on blogging. Please be patient with me. ♥
